CBD COA & Lab Results Guide 2019
Understanding CBD, COA’s and Lab Results
Understanding CBD & COA’s 101
Before we can truly understand the importance of proper lab testing for CBD products and learn more about go into each Cannabinoid Profile, it’s important that we understand exactly what Cannabinoids are and how they play an important role within our body. We’ll also go over a short list of the most common Cannabinoids found within the Hemp Plant.
What are Cannabinoids?
Cannabinoids are a group of chemicals that occur naturally both in the human body (endocannabinoids) and in cannabis and hemp plants (phytocannabinoids). There are over 100 different phytocannabinoids found naturally in plants. Cannabidiol (CBD) and Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) are the most known due to each of their benefits and effects.
What is the difference between CBD and THC?
The main difference between CBD and THC is the effect they have on the human body. These effects usually fall into two different categories, Psychoactive and Medicinal.
THC is primarily psychoactive and acts more like a drug where you get a high similar to a depressant where as CBD is more medicinal in its reported effects. Although some people claim that THC does help medicinally for pain, that is more a side effect of being in an altered mental state, similar to drinking a six pack of beer. CBD, on the other hand does not get you high at all. In fact, most people that take pure CBD isolate don’t feel any immediate effect when they take the CBD.
Studies are undergoing all across the country to find out how broad its applications are. It’s astounding how many things I’ve had customers tell me that our CBD products have helped them improve. The most common reports I get involve reduced inflammation which in return helps with pain, improved sleep, less anxiety which was recently reported from a retired Marine that after three months taking one of our broad spectrum products he no longer suffers from any PTSD, which at one point was debilitating and a various list of other forms of overall improvements in well being.
Other Cannabinoids commonly found in most phenotypes of Hemp plants at notably higher levels are:
CBD, which has no psychoactive properties is currently being isolated and studied for a wide variety of potential medical applications.
CBN has caught the eye of several medical researchers for its anti-inflammatory, analgesic and anti-convulsive properties. Studies have also shown it to be a mild sedative.
On the other hand, endocannabinoids products naturally within the human body play a plethra of roles in food intake, metabolism, sensory perception, memory, synaptic plasticity and central nervous system development. Two common Endocannabinoids in the body are 2-Arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG) and anandamide.
Both Phytocannabinoids and Endocannabinoids both connect to the same receptors in the body. Since the body already uses our own natural ones, cannabinoids in plants work great together and also have more of a synergistic relationship so the more cannabinoids that work together, the effects have been reported to be exponentially better. This is a process called the Entourage Effect and is the primary reason that there’s been a very notable increase in the number of customers buying Full Spectrum or products with a multiple cannabinoid profile.
ANO CBD sources all of our hemp directly from local hemp farms in Colorado. These farmers grow using genetics with extremely high levels of CBD and rich in different cannabinoids such as CBG, CBN and CBC.
We also make sure no pesticides or harmful contaminants are used during the growing process.
Just to make sure, we run full panel lab tests on the hemp harvest when we have it extracted into distillate oil.
The importance of 3rd Party Lab Testing on CBD Products
Buying CBD can be confusing so let me clear a few things up for you so you can make the right decision when you choose a CBD company to buy CBD from. The most important thing to remember is… NOT ALL CBD IS MADE THE SAME!
All CBD comes from the Hemp plant so let’s start there. It is very important to understand how the Hemp was grown, harvested, dried, stored and then extracted into CBD Distillate (raw concentrated hemp oil). The main concern we’ve heard from our customers is they’ve heard and read so many stories about big CBD corporations importing CBD from countries such as China or Indonesia where there’s very little growing standards and agricultural laws and practices ensuring safe growing practices without dangerous chemicals and pesticides.
Another potential problem can occur when manufacturing the final products, especially when they contain THC. Fly-by-night CBD companies that don’t properly test their CBD may have products with different concentrations, unsanitary bottling facilities, under-dosed and miss-labelled products and the biggest issue being products with the THC content over the legal limit of 0.3%.
CBD can also contain Pesticides and Insecticides, Dangerous Bacteria, Harmful Chemicals and Heavy Metals.
Now that you know why proper lab testing for CBD is so vital, here’s a guide to help you understand the main things to look for when reading and comparing CBD lab results, also known as a COA (Certificate of Analysis)
How to read CBD Lab Results and compare CBD Products.
The most important items to look for on the lab results are as follows:
Pesticides, Heavy Metals & Contaminants
ANO CBD products come in one of three available Cannabinoid Profiles.
GOLD which is our Full Spectrum line which means it has all available Cannabinoids including a small amount of THC. Always less than 0.3%
SILVER is our Broad Spectrum which means it has multiple cannabinoids. ANO’s Broad spectrum is similar to our Full Spectrum product but we’ve removed ALL of the THC. Just look for the Zero THC on the front of the bottle.
CLEAR which is over 99% Pure CBD Isolate which is only CBD no other cannabinoids and Zero THC.
As you know, to be one of the best CBD companies, a checks and balances system must be in place every step of the way.
We think its important to double check every step of the process so ANO CBD products don’t end up on a letter like the one to the right that was given to me by an owner of a chain of Vape Shops that carry our products.
It lists a bunch of CBD products that have tested OVER THE LEGAL LIMIT for THC.
THIS IS WHY ITS SO IMPORTANT TO PROPERLY LAB TEST ALL CBD PRODUCTS AND MATERIAL.
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ANO CBD AND 90% OF OTHER CBD COMPANIES IS THAT THEY BUY CBD FROM SOMEONE WHO INCLUDES A COPY OF A COA AND THEY NEVER RETEST OR HAVE ANY CLUE WHERE THE HEMP WAS GROWN.
WE DO NOT BUY CBD. WE BUY HEMP. RIGHT FROM AN AMERICAN HEMP FARM AND EXTRACT AND TEST OUR OWN CBD.
AND JUST TO MAKE SURE WE DO A 2ND TEST ON THE FINAL PRODUCTS.
CBD COA’s for CBD Isolate | ANO CLEAR Products
Let’s start with the CLEAR which is our CBD Isolate which is just CBD nothing else. Below is an example of the first full panel text we perform on the initial extraction. It should always show over 99% CBD and no other cannabinoids which also means Zero THC.
As you can see with a Full Panel Test we also test for Pesticides and Heavy Metals.
The second lab result is done on the finished product as you can see by the picture of the bottle. Once again , verify only CBD no other cannabinoids and 0.00% THC.
CBD COA’s for Broad Spectrum CBD | ANO SILVER Products
Next up are the SILVER and GOLD which are both similar except the THC Levels.
Has anyone ever shown you the most important difference when comparing products with Multiple Cannabinoids such as our Broad Spectrum and our Full Spectrum?
Here’s the Lab results on our last batch of SILVER or Broad-Spectrum CBD. Broad Spectrum which means full spectrum but Zero THC.
Not all Broad or Full Spectrum Products are the same.
The concentrations of CBD in Broad or Full Spectrum Products can range from about 30% CBD to in some cases over 90% CBD.
THE HIGHER THE BETTER!
ANO’s SILVER and GOLD products guarantee a minimum of 70% CBD but in most cases, you’ll see 80%-90%.
And remember to double check the 2nd test for ZERO THC
CBD COA’s for Full Spectrum CBD | ANO GOLD Products
GOLD or Full Spectrum CBD Cannibinoid Profile. All available cannabinoids are suppose to be in Full Spectrum Products with the THC levels reduced slightly so its under 0.3%.
When all cannabinoids are able to interact, a synergistic reaction between the cannabinoids occurs called the Entourage Effect, which enhances the benefits of the product because there is an increased effectiveness caused by the interaction of all available cannabinoids.
The difference between this and the SILVER is the THC Content so remember to double check that the THC Content is less than 0.3% on the finished product.
Look at how many cannabinoids there are in a quality full spectrum product.

ANO CBD : Quality Controlled, From Seed To Sale.
All of our CBD Products are made through a proprietary process that combines Winterized Terpene Rich Hemp Oil and CO2 extracted CBD Distillate, all of whcih come from organically grown American Hemp sourced directly from USA Hemp farms in Colorado that neighbor ANO’s original Hemp Harvest.
AS soon as the hemp is harvested and dried, its immediately taken by an ANO Team member to the 3rd party Extraction and testing facility where it is extracted into either Clear CBD Isolate, Silver Broad Spectrum or Gold Full Spectrum CBD Distillate. Its imparative to take the harvest to the extraction facility as soon as its ready to avoid dangerous mold and mildew.
ANO’s first lab test uses Third-Party Full-Panel Lab Tests to ensure there’s no Pesticides, Heavy Metals or other Contaminants AND verify the types and levels of the Cannabinoids which also include THC. Our ZERO THC products are truly that… zero point zero zero percent THC and of course our GOLD or Full Spectrum products always have less than the zero point three percent THC per container as required by law.
All ANO CBD products are made in a designated, sanitary, clean-air filtered, temperature regulated and climate controlled laboratory that exceeds both medical laboratory and food manufacturing facility USA Standards for cleanliness, product storage, security, safety, labeling and manufacturing.
We’ve place UPC Codes for price scanning and inventory control as well as QR Codes that link directly to the 2nd and final COA, or lab result, for each product performed once the final products were made to ensure product quality and consistency. COA stands for Certificate of Analysis. ANO tests ALL of their CBD TWICE to ensure quality and accuracy, and as a checks and balance system designed to catch any lab errors or discrepancies between the two different third-party testing labs.
